Remo Mario Trentini

Remo Mario Trentini

Remo Mario Trentini (1915 – 1999) was a Dallas Surrealist Artist originally born in Innsbruck, Austria. He was raised in Roverato, a City in the Trento region of Northern Italy, nestled in the rugged Dolomite Mountains – a place he recalled often as a subject of his paintings.

After attending the Art Academy in Turin for 5 years, he moved to Paris to study after WW2. He returned to Italy in the mid-1950’s where he and his family lived in Rome. In 1976, Trentini moved his family to Onawa, Ontario, then in 1980 when his son Silvio (who served as his translator) entered SMU, moved to the US.

Trentini worked from his home in Dallas, painting 7 or 8 hours a day on works in two markedly different styles. He made broadly impressionistic oil paintings on glass of places he knew during his lifetime (of which this painting is one … of his time spent in Paris). He also painted detailed fantasy scenes in oil on canvas.

Trentini’s works are in Private Collections in Dallas, Toyko, New York City, the Vatican and Rome, as wells as Ottawa, Canada, and the Collection of the British Royal Family.

His works have been exhibited in Dallas and other major Cities and in Europe.
